Kern River Valley Post 711
American Legion
Presidents message
Serving as President 2017-2018, I wish to have more events with our 711 family members and other post who would like to enjoy some camaraderie.
We will continue to support and help our Veterans and Community. Over the years, the Post 711 Legion Family has impacted this community in ways that have made lasting differences in the Kern River Valley (KRV) with the many and varied programs implemented. Some of those accomplished by this Post, the Auxiliary and “Chapter 711 Riders” were:
Check a Vet, and visit a Vet to include annual Christmas gift distribution to veterans who reside in assisted living facilities in the Kern River Valley; Annual sponsorship and support of the American Legion boys and girls state programs; Veterans Honor guard event Flag lines and Flag educational programs for the youth of this Valley. Keepers of the Arizona Memorial and Flags by agreement with the Kern County Parks and Recreation; On-site education for KRV Elementary students on the History and meaning of the Pledge of allegiance, our nations flag and the meaning of the stars and the stripes. Fundraisers to benefit the Honor Flight off Kern County program; various ad-hock fund raisers such as Erskine Fire Relief that resulted in combined cash distribution of over $20,000 to Veterans directly affected by this disaster.
We will continue to maintain Tank Park artifacts and still have information booths at local events and have American flags available for our young citizens.
Thanks for all you do!!
Bud Reed, President
